Auf das Gleichgewicht achten (Keep the balance)

Lea AnnTuschling ist von Mission nach Hause zurückgekehrt. Sie diente von Mai bis Dezember 2012 als Missionarin in Dortmund und war selbst genauso wie Elba Kapllani erst als junge Frau kurz vor ihrer Mission konvertiert. Schwester Tuschling hat ihre gesamte Mission über fast jede Woche in einem Blog von ihren Erfahrungen berichtet. Gefragt, was sie vorrangig auf Mission gelernt hat, schreibt sie:"Mein Herzenseinstellung gegenüber Menschen hat sich geändert. Ich liebe Menschen. Alle haben ihre eigene Geschichte und ihren eigenen Erfahrungshintergrund und das liebe ich. Wir sind so einzigartig und brauchen doch alle Zuneigung und zuweilen Fürsorge. Elba Kapllani die auch von Mission in ihre Heimatstadt Tirana zurückkehrte und bei uns Anfang Januar nur zwei Wochen als Missionarin aushalf, kommentierte die Antwort Christi auf die Frage nach dem wichtigsten Gebot (siehe Mathäus 22:37-39; http://www.bibleserver.com/text/LUT/Matth%C3%A4us22): Warum schreibe ich heute diesen Beitrag? "Deshalb weil ich den Eindruck bei vielerlei Anlässen gewonnen habe, dass wir nicht wirklich auf diese beiden Gebote acht geben. Wir versuchen zwar gute Menschen zu sein, doch rechtfertigen wir das Nichtbefolgen dieser zwei Gebote damit, dass sie so schwer zu halten sind."
Als ich im Mathäusevangelium nachlas: "Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben von ganzem Herzen, von ganzer Seele und von ganzem Gemüt« Dies ist das höchste und größte Gebot. Das andere aber ist dem gleich: »Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst« (Matthäus 22:37; http://www.bibleserver.com/text/LUT/Matth%C3%A4us22), kam mir eine andere und für mich neue  Antwort in den Sinn. Es ist nicht leicht, das Gleichgewicht zwischen Gottesliebe und Nächstenliebe zu halten. Aber genau auf dieses Gleichgewicht kommt es an, um nicht zu fallen oder zu straucheln. Es wurde mir bewussst, das Christus auf die Frage nach dem wichtigsten Gebot zwei Gebote nennt, zuerst die Gottes- und dann die Nächstenliebe. Die eine ist aber ohne die andere nicht zu denken: Glaube ohne Werke ist tot.
Damit schlage ich eine Brücke zu

Elder Jensen (l), Elder Allen (r)

Elder Jensen, dem neuen Mitarbeiter von Elder Allen, der ein begeisterter Yudoka und Motorradfahrer ist. Kommt es nicht in beiden Sportarten darauf an, immer das Gleichgewicht zu behalten? Elder Seamons wurde nach Aachen versetzt und Elder Jensen kam direkt vom MTC zu uns. Er ist der Jüngste von vier Geschwistern und Sohn eines Rechtsanwalts. Seine Heimatstadt ist Seattle, Washington, USA. Seine Vorfahren brachten den Familiennamen aus Dänemark mit und gehörten zu den Handkarren-Pionieren, die den langen und leidensvollen Weg ins verheißene Salzseetal schafften. Der Leitgedanken für seine Mission steht im 3. Nephi 5:13: " Siehe, ich bin ein Jünger Jesu Christi, des Sohnes Gottes. Ich bin von ihm berufen worden, sein Wort unter seinem Volk zu verkünden, damit sie immerwährendes Leben haben können." (http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/3-ne/5?lang=deu) Mögen wir auch ihm zuhören und dann das tun, was er verkündet, damit wir unser Lebensziel erreichen!

Lea Ann Tuschling has gone home from her mission. She served as a missionary in Dortmund from May to December 2012. She was, exactly like Elba Kapllani, as a young woman, converted just before her mission. Sister Tuschling recorded her experiences almost every week on a blog. Being asked what she had learned from her mission, she writes: "My heart has changed towards people. I love people. Everyone has their own story and background and I love that! We are so unique and we all need some tender love and care sometimes. All in all, I have figured out for myself the true meaning of love on my mission. ... I have learned a lot of things, but the biggest which has changed me to the very core is love."
Elba Kapllani, who also recently returned to her home city Tirana, was here for only two weeks at the beginning of January. she comments on the answerthat Christ gave to the question about the most important commandment (see Matt. 22:37-39). "Why am I writing this note today, it is because I have received recently the impression in so many occasions, that we do not really pay attention to these two commandments. We try to be good girls and  good boys through keeping the other commandments and try to justify not keeping  the first and  especially the second one with the idea that are so hard to reach , it is hard for us to be perfected in them. Like it is so hard to have charity." As I read in Matthew, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself," I had a new idea come to mind. It is not easy to keep the balnce between the love of God and the love of neighbor. But it is exactly this balance that keeps us from falling or stumbling. I realized, that Christ had answered the question of the most important commandment with two commandments. First, the love of God, and then the love of neighbor. One is nought without the other: face without works is dead.

With that, we will transition to Elder Jensen, Elder Allen´s new companion. He is an enthusiastic Judo fighter and Motorcyclist. Is it not important in both of these sports to keep a good balance? - Elder Seamons was transferred to Aachen and Elder Jensen came to us straight from the MTC. He is the youngest of 4 and the son of a lawyer. His home city Seattle, Washington, USA. His ancestors come from Dennmark and were handcart-pioneers who traveled the long and sorrowful trek to the Salt Lake Valley. The leading thought to his mission can be found in 3. Nephi 5:13 "Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." May we listen to him and then do what he taught, so that we can achieve our life goals!
