Jetzt aber wünschen wir Euch beiden eine glückliche Verlobungszeit, die zur Siegelung der Ehe im Haus des Herrn führt und Euch ewig vereint.
There
are wonderful things that happen on a mission. Even though finding a partner is
not one of the priorities of the missionaries, you sometimes can’t keep the
sparks from flying. As we read Kaitlyn Michelle Sprouse and James Penfold got engaged
January 20st. They were both missionaries in Dortmund last year. The US
American Sister Sprouse inspired me to start my blog through her own mission
blog „Hello from Germany“ and the English Elder Penfold was a zone leader.
He came to visit us here in Dortmund with his parents and his sister after his
mission. We feel a special personal connection to their engagement, because
January 20st 2014 is our 47th wedding
anniversary. We have a very fond memory of our engagement time before we got
married.
Now
my blog always has little spiritual thoughts that are oriented on the
scriptures. For Christmas I got a book that is called „ with the bible
throughout the year“ For January 20st
I found the scripture of Joshua 5: 13-15
with the leading theme of „ Sometimes it helps to ask“. We are reminded of the
calling of Mose that is now transfered to Joshua. Joshua is also asked to take
off his shoes, because he is standing on holy ground.
In
the world today an engagement and a wedding is not mandatory anymore to live
together as a couple. We believe, though, that couples step on holy ground and
that it is comanded to be married if you want to start a life together. We wish
the couple all the best for the engagement time that will eventually lead to a
sealing in the holy temple, the house of the Lord, that will unite the couple for time and all
eternity.
P.S.
Since we didn’t notice the flying sparks, we would be really interested in
hearing the whole story sometime!
Congratulations from me to you, Sister Kaitlyn Michelle Sprouse and Elder James Penfold.
